Last New Years, I was in Miami with my new friend, Osher Gunsberg, the host of Australian Idol, and the Australian edition of The Bachelor. He’s also an entrepreneur and angel investor.
Apart from being a really fun person to spend 3 days partying with, Osher is also incredibly wise when it comes to business — so we spent a lot of time talking.
I learned more over a few days from Osher than I probably would have learned sitting through an entire semester in college.
And that’s probably the best part about meeting and connecting with your heroes. When done correctly, you can drastically reduce your learning curve and move very quickly towards goals that might have taken you much longer to achieve trying to figure them out by yourself.
Basically: When your heroes talk, you should listen.
So Osher and I were talking — and the conversation went something like this:
Osher: “What if I told you I could teach you the entire first year of business school with two simple acronyms…”
Maneesh (double-take): “What?”
Osher: “Do you want me to teach you the 6 P’s and 5 D’s of business?”
What Osher taught me is so intuitive and simple that we often overlook it.
Watch the video here.
Can you spot at least 3 areas in your life where you could apply these powerful acronyms immediately?
Let me know in the comments.

I like it. Succinct. Not quite enough for the first year of Business School? But I like the 5 D’s particularly.
Hi Maneesh !
I’m French and poor me I have difficulties to understand what the 6 P’s and the 5 D’s are.
Could you or anyone help me ?
I have these words for now :
6 P’s : Prior, Preparation , Provides ,Peace ?, ?, Performance.
5 D’s : Don’t, ?, Delay, Decide, (or) Delegate
Stephanie! The 6P’s are Prior Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor (really bad) Performance, and the D’s are Don’t Dither (be indecisive) or Delay. Decide or Delegate. Great advice!
Thank you so much Ruben !
I am deaf and I need an English written version. Thanks for bringing this up.
Oscar IS cool, eh? (I’m Aussie!)
I’d apply the 5D’s in my endeavor to write a book!
3 areas for immediate application:
Creating a blog/personal brand (5 D’s)
Committing to Healthy Eating (6 P’s)
Launching a successful social media campaign (6P’s)
