How can a single plane flight improve all of your habits—-eating right, exercising, productive work, meditation—simultaneously?
I just flew into San Francisco, where I’ll be spending the month of July. I’m working with ESPN’s James Swanwick to determine exactly what makes humans tick—and how we can apply psychological techniques to achieve real, successful behavioral change.
For me, well—I got fat. You might have seen a few of my posts on how I got into the best shape of my life using the Bet Switch Mechanism, or how I lost 23 lbs in 28 days by living in the wild. Now, I’m back up to 194lbs, and that is just not okay.
So I landed in San Francisco and met up with James, and as we took a taxi from the airport to our apartment, we discussed exactly what we planned to do while we were in SF. We both agreed—The first 36 hours in any new environment are VITAL to achieving good habits.
If the first thing we did was grab some McDonalds, then we would continue to eat like crap for the whole month. Instead, we decided that our first action was “find a gym” and “load up our fridge with good food.”
Green veggies, avocados, carrots, and eggs came out to a total of $130. Seriously. Thanks, organic SF.
So, James and I decided to make a video about the BEST ways to become productive. If you have an accountability partner, everything is much easier. Heck, I haven’t gone to the gym in 5 months, but in less than 24 hours, I’ve eaten perfectly, hit the gym HARD, skipped drinks at a party, and made a video to send out to you,
So, check out the video below. James and I will be making videos just about daily (but not on the blog), so you definitely want to subscribe.

Step 2) Watch our first video of Hack San Francisco below.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
WDS
P.S. Are you at WDS this weekend? I’ll be there. If you’re coming, let me know if you’re interested in a meetup by filling out this form—if I get enough interest, I’ll hold a meetup or something.
AND I’m DJing a party on Sunday night that you should totally come to.

Maneesh great video im glad you have an accountability partner I’ve been looking for one too!
Looking forward to seeing your progress on this project. I completely understand how you can sometimes slide with your habits, glad to see that I’m not the only one. 🙂
Great project Maneesh, I need to get an accountability partner too!
I’m in san francisco, whats WDS?
Great plan – looking forward to hearing about it. Any SF (or Bay Area) meet-up planned?
My head’s still spinning over that $130…and you didn’t even mention meat. (I’m “paleo plus rice” so I get it but goddamn, SF…)
I too look forward to seeing how this works out for you guys. Good luck! (I’m already on your e-mail list BTW)
That is awesome, I’ll try to follow up and dismiss all of my energy drinks and coffee from my daily routines!
Thanks for inspiring me!
Best,
Jan
I like Paleo Contracts, I made my clients to sign them all the time. Good luck, try to save the 70$ 🙂
Awesome! I’m staying tuned!
